Make your journey memorable and meaningful!
It was a gloomy Sunday morning when I saw this lady sat on Freedom Park in Romblon. She wanted to approach me as she thought that I am a foreigner and wishes to ask some dollars. I sat in her side and have a conversation, I was also looking for some locals that I can ask where the store of Montenegro lines is as I am planning a trip to Tablas Island, an hour sail from Romblon. But unfortunately , there's no schedule by that time and the store was closed. So I ended up talking more to this lady I've met. Her name is WILMA DEGOLLACION, 65 years old and currently lives in Barangay 3, in Romblon, Romblon. And She has 2 children.
Her story was heartbreaking and I really wanted to help her. By writing this article, I wish that I can help her and I hope that you guys who are able to read this article will also do your part in helping Nanay Wilma.
This is her Story:
She was separated together with her 5 other siblings when she was 6 years old, two of them are on her mother's side while the other three was on her father's side. It was quite difficult for her to meet her siblings due to insufficient funds. Some of siblings is in Mindanao, that's an hour ride from Romblon via plane. One of her siblings died from sleep (nightmare) and the sad part was that she was not even then during her sibling's funeral.
Its been 59 long years, she did not meet her siblings and wishes to really meet them as she is now an old lady.
Her siblings' name swho are still alive are the following:
OLGA DEGOLLACION REYES- She havent meet yet after 59 years old
WILFREDO DEGOLLACION- She havent meet yet after 59 years old
ELMER DEGOLLACION- She already meet and he is residing at Cavite.
After hearing her story, I told her if we can take a video about her dramatic life and promised to publish it so her voice can be heard by someone who does philanthropic deeds.
I pray that we can together help spread this article and help Nanay Wilma meet her siblings.
She don't have a mobile number but she lived permanently in Barangay 3, Romblon, Romblon. The town is not as populated as the other city and its only a rural community so there's a big chance of searching her.
I am grateful that I have heard her story, and that made me cry for such pain shes been carrying. Before I left her, I handed her a gift to buy something as she thought I was a foreigner and wants some dollars, but I gave her some Peso.
Check out her video here.
