Forget your color and face the sun rays. Expect beyond your imagination and be amazed by the wonders this island can to offer.
This article is all about Romblon Island mainly focusing on Romblon, Romblon and Tablas Island.
The province of Romblon is comprised of three main islands, Romblon, Tablas and Sibuyan Island. Each of these islands offers a breathtaking scenery and amazing adventure. This will also tackle everything you need to know on this island, Dos and Donts, some tips and advises.
Are you excited to know how you can best spend your holiday? Come and take some time to read this article.
I have traveled to Romblon, Romblon and talk some time off in Tablas island via boat. A must try experience.
How To Get There:
I took my way from Monumento LRT Line 1 station to Gil Puyat LRT Line 1 Station and hopped on a bus via JAM Terminal right opposite the SOGO hotel. Ceres buses are also going to Batangas port located at the JAC Liner terminal. Travel time from Manila to Batangas port is roughly 2 hours and 10 minutes. Regular fare is at PHP 167.00 per head.
For my voyage to Romblon, Romblon, I booked online via 2go travel (travel.2go.com.ph) and travel time is roughly 8 hours and 40 minutes, purchased a Tourist accommodation for only PHP 1,092 with free dinner.
The ship arrived at Romblon port at 4:00 in the morning so you will need to book from your hotel a tricycle to pick you up in the port except if you just booked at the town. I paid Php 100 to the tricyle to my Hotel (EL KRIMOFFPH RESORT) , a 20 minutes ride from town but during daytime, the regular fare is only Php 15.00 only.
Before you hop on a bus, buy some snacks and water for your trip. It would be safe if you have foods with you during your time in an unfamiliar place. I bought some ensaymada at Goldilocks located along the JAM liner terminal.
- There is only one airport available at the moment located at Tugdan Airport, Alcantara, Tablas Island. There's a lot of tourist attraction in Tablas if ever you opted to take a flight. Tablas Island is much bigger than Romblon Romblon.
- If you opted to travel via sea: From Manila, hop on a bus going to Batangas port. Buy your ticket there but if peak season, I suggest that you purchase online via 2go Travels to save some time. If you want to stay at the Marble capital of the Philippines, take Romblon route. If you want to stay and explore Tablas Island, take Odiongan port route, also part of Romblon province.
Where To Eat:
This island is not yet developed so expect that there are no 5-star cuisine and fancy restaurant available. Though, I have been to this restaurants below and you may opt to give it a try.
Check this link below for the lists of restaurants available in Romblon,Romblon:

I woke up at 8:30 a.m. prepare my stuff and ready to explore the island. From the hotel, El Krimoffph, I walked almost 20 minutes and I came across this quiet beach called
Nonok Beach Resort here in Barangay Lonos, Romblon, Romblon same barangay where I stayed. Open the gate and take a few steps down where he person incharge will meet you.The entrance fee is only Php 50.00 for adults and Php 25.00 for kids.
It's really worth the value of your time and money because you will not need to pay extra for the cottages or other rentals. Its for free. I was so lucky that I am the only guest on that day and I got to enjoy the whole resort all by myself and it as like privately rented. You wont need to hesitate to whatever poses you want to do, make blogs and film and you wont need to wait for a queue whenever there's a wonderful spot that may caught your attention and capture that amazing shots. The place is absolutely amazing and should be enjoyed by the many. What an amazing natural resources rich in magnificent scenery, spectacular 360 and panoramic view, crystal clear water and fresh air. They also got an iconic Titanic ship which is also one of the resort's edge over Tiamban Beach resort situated right next to
Nonok Beach resort. It is very picturesque and class as well. I stayed there until afternoon. I asked the caretaker if I can check the whole area and luckily the owner of the resort as there so without hesitation I talked to them and asked if they can show me around the resort. The owner is very friendly and we had a wonderful conversation.
After checking around the resort, I went to Poblacion, Romblon, Romblon town to have lunch. It is very easy to find a food restaurant in town as they are strategically located right infront of the seaport and you will not get lost. From Nonok Beach, you can ride a motorcycle and pay Php 15.00, travel time is approximately 5 minutes. I took a stroll around the streets and find out which restaurant I might dine in. I settled at the resto infront of the seaport and ordered some local meals. Food is good and is really affordable. After I eaten my lunch, I went to 2go office just across the Freedom park to check the scheduled routes going to Tablas Island for some adventure but unfortunately 2go Travels do not have a direct route from Romblon to Tablas Island either San Agustin port or Odiongan port which are part of Tablas.
Check this video for more amazing shots:

I saw the tourism office at the Freedom Park situated right infront of the pier but since its Sunday, the office was closed. As I walked by, I saw an old lady named Wilma Degollacion , 65 years old and a local in Romblon Island. She has a very interesting story to share and I made sure that I can help her in every possible way.

She thought that I am a foreigner and would like to ask some dollar bill but as soon as I spoke Filipino, she just smiled. After an hour, I left her at
Freedom Park and handed her a gift.
Souvenir shops are available here in town and most of their products are made out of marble as this Province is the Marble Capital of the Philippines. The prices of their products are also affordable.
After an hour, I walked around the seaport area and watched these kids swimming, enjoying their childhood life and also took some pictures with them. I headed to
Bonbon Beach to check this public beach in Romblon. As I entered into the beach, there are no cottages and visitors managed to stay under the trees on the side of the beach overlooking a small island. It is weekend so there's a number of tourists and locals enjoying the beach especially that there is no entrance fee plus you can chill here and have a beer with your amigos. Invite some friends make your moment wonderful as you have a good moments with them. There's no security guard here and the beach is open only until 7 PM. While I was walking along the shore, these 4 young adults greeted me and invited me for a drink of Emperador and so I accepted the glass and also sat with them. They are locals there, funny and cool. I had a few shots and I was just waiting an hour for the sunset view in the beach.
At 5 PM, I left and walked from Bonbon beach to Nonok beach passing through Tiamban beach. These 3 beaches are just close to each other, you can just take a few steps. After an hour of filming, I headed back to my hotel at El Krimoffph Resort.
Tips:
Be Friendly and Socialize Make new friends and your trip will become more fun and also they are a great source of information, your guide for your trip around the island. Plus you can ask them Dos and Don'ts as well.
Be sure to wake up early and see the amazing sunrise.

DAY TWO
My second day here in Romblon and I want it more fun compare yesterday that just chillin' like a villain. I woke up at 6 O'clock in the morning to catch the trip to San Agustin in a nearby island via pump boat but unfortunately there's a limited slots and only 40 passengers are allowed to voyage. So, in short, I did not get the slot. So we need to change plan. That's one trait of of traveler that every adventure seeker must have is to be flexible.
I rented a tricycle at Php 1,000 to tour around Romblon and see the tourist attractions in the area. This is a solo trip, so it kind of a bit expensive.
First stop_BonbonBeach x Sandbar
I arrived at 8 O'clock and it's already late, you can no longer get a look at the sandbar the water is already covering. You must come earlier around 6 or 7 O'clock for you to catch an amazing sandbar plus you will be able to cross the small island called Bang-Og. The Place is so picturesque and if you love taking photographs, then this is definitely the place for ya.
No Entrance Fee
No Cottages available
No Security Guard

Second Stop_San Pedro Beach Resort in Talipasak
This resort is situated in Barangay Ginablan, Romblon just a few minutes ride from Bonbon Beach. You will need a ride in coming over this place and take a small road and rough road also by the time you reach the gate of the resort. Travel time from the highway is roughly 10 minutes. You will then pay for their entrance fee at Php 50 pesos and you can use their table placed beside the beach. If you have a guide, you will not pay for his entrance fee, it's FREE.
They also have swings here, so you can take a swing and just relax, the view is cool as well. Very peaceful and quite, away from the urbane world. I was the first guest here and I really enjoyed taking photographs and filming. I was able to capture amazing photos without any distractions from other tourists or guests. They have food menu available here, so you wont need to worry about your meal. They serve chicken, fish and pork recipes. Though if you're up for a swim, this is not the right place for ya. I came here just to take photographs, relax, discover and explore, and rove around. This is a white sand beach but the its a little rock and also a few sea urchins were spotted during my visit. So I don't advise that you swim here, it is not safe. But if you only ant to escape from the metro, take a good look at nature, breath fresh air, chillax under the trees, watch the birds flying up above the sky then you can absolutely come and enjoy.

After finishing here at San Pedro Beach Resort, we rode to the other barangays in Romblon. Majority of the roads here are concreted, you travelling can be convenient.
Third Stop_Marble Carving Area
Have fun and enjoy the tricycle ride. Smell fresh air and be amazed of the greenery and blue-green sea. As you go along the way, a number of marble carving area can be seen in Barangay Ilauran. Carving, producing, polishing tables and stand tables made out of marble is the highlight in this Barangay. They are simply rich with marbles and and brimstones. There are stores selling marble products along the streets and don't usually have proper business name signboard. Their products are displayed on the street sides. The local people are nice and also friendly and some are a little bit shy sharing me their name. I have tried to polished the stand of the table that made my trip quite of an experience. I visited the small wooden house where locals are carving and polishing the products to be sold out to the market or display along the streets.

In Barangay Capaclan, I've met this artist guy named Bryan Mazo Madeja along the way as we stopped because the figurines caught my attention. It was carved and sculpted well. What a talent they got here. Bryan, 32 years old is now an expert in making art exhibits made out of pure marble. He has been designing, carving, sculpting for 15 years already. He acquired his skills by just watching his colleagues and 3 years later, he tried to create small to medium pieces of Dolphin figurines and after few years he managed to create an amazing work of art and was able to participate an annual art exhibit in town competing with other local which works best among all others depending on the year's theme and concept.
Last January 2018, feast in Romblon, he joined the competition but wasn't lucky to win but he was able to sell his work as mush as Php 30,000. Wow ! Amazing isn't it? And now he is currently working for next years' art exhibit. It is a 6-Dolphin Figurine connected to each other and planned to sell it at Php 25,000.
Below are his work of art, some are already sold and some needs a little polishing.

Fourth Stop_CATHEDRAL DE SAN JOSE BELFRY
A catholic church here in Poblacion, Romblon Island. It is the oldest Roman Catholic church located in Romblon, made out of coral blocks and bricks in the 15th century. It is a structure rich in structural details. A campanile constructed between 1640 and 1726 and still contains the old copper bell. A 350 meters away from the port or 4 minutes walk.
Fifth Stop_FUERZA SAN ANDRES (FORT SAN ANDRES)
This island is also blessed with historical and cultural heritage sites. This is such a cool place overlooking the town and island of Romblon. You will need to hike and walk two hundred steps up and sight the vast ocean and smell fresh air. Established in the year 1640 and after 4 years the fort completed its construction. It was built to guard the Romblon town against Pirates and other intruders. It overlooks the town as well as the sea which made it perfect to notice any incoming possible threats.
Fortunately, I met the caretaker of this Fort named Deony Macatol, he is one of the active member of their group who helped restore this once damaged and grassy Fort with the help of course by the National Cultural Association of the Philippines and LGU.

Sixth Stop_ROMBLON FREEDOM PARK
Take some cool photographs here at Freedom photographs right infront of the Pier. This is very conspicuous and easily be seen by the time you comes out from the port.
Check out my Youtube channel and the link below for more stories and photographs:
After an exhausting trip in this town, I went to an Italian restaurant for lunch. I ordered there Hawaiian Pizza at PHP 250. This is 200 meters away from port.
They have a lot of food and the place is cool and relaxing. Simple but the atmosphere is good here.
The food was good as well and it is affordable. So I invited Mark, my tour guide to eat with me and enjoy the pizza that was ordered.
After our lunch, the driver then took me to my hotel and rest for a while. Charge my phones and lay in bed and took a nap.
For rental needs, you may contact this guy named Mark Madrona at 0918-215-2155.
At 4:30 p.m. I woke up and decided to go to Nonok Beach again, it's 5 minutes ride from my hotel. Luckily the owner whom I met yesterday was there too, we have a small talk and when I am about to pay for my entrance fee, he said that I will no longer pay and even invited me to stay at the resort. I am thankful that I met this attorney, I really enjoyed his company. Among all other beach in Romblon, I recommend too visit Nonok Beach Resort. It's 8 minutes ride from town. For just a minimum pay of Php 50 you will witness the amazing sunrise and sunset view.

This is my second attempt in going to cross to another major spot part of Romblon Province, Tablas Island. An hour boat ride from Romblon, Romblon to San Agustin, Tablas Island. In Two days, I have toured around Romblon so I really really need another venue to rove around especially that I am doing a blog. You can actually tour Romblon, Romblon in just one day but it would be a bit tiresome and exhausting so I suggest to spend two or 3 days in the Island.
I woke up at 5 O'clock in the morning, prepare my travel stuff and ride to town. At 6 O'clock I arrived at the port (town) there is a waiting shed that you can stay while waiting for the pump boat to arrive. I was the first passenger and surely I can get on the boat and explore Tablas Island. There's something this ton should improve, they have to make a process to better serve not just the tourists but the locals as well. I arrived there at the waiting shed two days in a row and the paper here you can jot down lists of passengers are kept in the boat and not in the waiting shed area. So you have to wait for the boat to arrive then that's the time you can register. That's Insane ! Like my first attempt to cross the other island, and the maximum limit is only 40 passengers because of the boats' capacity. By the time the boat arrived, only then these people in the waiting shed are jotting down their names to register. IT IS NOT FAIR! There are people who came early but because of the stupid process, they were not able to onboard. That's crazy dude. The person who suppose to be issuing the terminal ticket should and must have a little initiative to jot down those who came first and onboard them first. It should be FIRST COME, FIRST TO ONBOARD POLICY! Do some work fellas, be innovative!
We departed at 8 O'clock in the morning after an hour e docked at San Agustin Port in Tablas Island. I roam around for 10 minutes then I went to buy my brunch, water, also look for a hotel to stay for a night and a single motorbike (Habal-Habal) to rent for a day with driver of course.
I went to this small restaurant, lady Queens and asked the server how I can find a a cheap motorbike rental in town for a day tour. He then suggested to use his motorbike at 1,400 all in so I got the deal. He also recommended an affordable lodge in Felnor Lodge. I am good with the place and the fee so I paid at Php 600 for one night, Airconditionen room and has private toilet as well. They also have non-AC at Php 400/night but they don't have a key to the room. Yay!
AT 9:50, I am settled and ready to explore and get a sight of this island. We drove via Calatrava municipality and after an hour-OMG! The motorbike stopped functioning. This is insane! I want an adventure but certainly not like this! I was dismayed. Luckily some locals are there so we got some help. We drove back to San Agustin by another motorbike pulling our motorbike. This is terrible. What a waste of time. I only have very limited time here so i wanted make the best out of it.
Some things happened that's beyond our control. Instead of feeling bad and disappointed, I just thought that there might be a reason why we are stopped on our way. And that reason maybe more big than what we wanted. It maybe save us from harm, that might be to protect us from being brutal, there could be an accident if we pass through. So I need to keep the positive vibes and energy in me. It took as two hours to get back to San Agustin Town and wasted 3 hours on the road. So messed up.
Took another motorbike and drove fast to Tablas Point as our first destination.
It is wiser if you settle and stay overnight in San Agustin town near the port if you have plan to return back to Romlon, Romblon the next day because the schedule was 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 only. So you might not catch the ship if you stay away from the port.
Check this link below for that weird unlucky adventure :
FIRST STOP_TABLAS POINT
Tablas Point is located in the southernmost part of Tablas Island. Its a 2-hour ride from San Agustin at the speed of 60 to 80 kph. Most of the roads were concreted so riding can be a bit fast. Plan your trip! It is better if you first visit the farthest destination on your lists especially if you have plan of returning back. Tablas Point is on the tip of the island. Gong there is tough and really an adventure. The road we took was challenging, we passed through the muddy, rocky, tiny, and holed roads from San Fe town. It took as 40 minutes ride from Sante Fe to Tablas Point. According to the locals, there are other concreted ways where four wheeler vehicles can pass through but we are not aware of that. And since we have a motorbike, we look for the fastest way.
Coming in Tablas Point- the entrance' signboard needs enhancement to look appealing. It so plain and simple. Grasses around should be trimmed or replaced by plants for better view or best is to put up a swimming pool in the area. The scenery was great, peaceful and quiet place. A perfect getaway.
I enjoyed taking photographs here , the view was magnificent. Relaxing, quiet, peaceful and a beautiful place away from the city. Once the move of the Local Government to put up ports in every town be realized, it will be more convenient and fast to travel via sea. the place is clean and the have bar and restaurant available, billiard game, volleyball game, swings and a gym equipment as well.
Entrance fee is Php 50 and tour guide is FREE. Room accommodation is at Php 2,500/night.
SECOND STOP_AGLICAY BEACH RESORT
After an hour at Tablas Point,we rode to Aglicay Beach Resort in Alcantara. Travel time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. The road going there is fine as its already concreted and more accessible compare to Tablas Point. In just 13 minutes from the highway, you will arrive at the greenery, cool and haven place. Entrance fee is Php 70 and overnight fee is Php 15. You can also camp here but you need to bring your own tent. The resort can host team building activities and can accommodate 80 pax dormitory type beds. The resort opened its business last 2005 and still attracting visitors and travelers with its unique beauty and elegance. A perfect balance of nature and adventure.
The water on the other hand was not clean due to Amihan (wind) that took the dried leaves to the resort resulting to its unattractive view and not good for swimming.
Chill, take some photographs and create great memoirs.
After an hour spent here- we drove back to San Agustin. We have only visited 2 major attractions due to time constraints. e only had 6 hours instead of 9 hours. Come early and start early so you can explore other beaches and falls in Tablas Island. Other places to explore are: Busay and Trangkalan falls and blue hole in San Agustin; Lapus-Lapus Beach, Turtle cove, Tinagong Dagat and Calatrava Museum in Calatrava; Binucot beach in Ferrol; Looc Bay Refuge & Marine Sanctuary, Looc Old Houses, Looc Bay Lighthouse in Looc; and Garing and Tuburan falls and marble shops in Odiognan.

DAY FOUR
From San Agustin port- took a ship back to Romblon, Romblon. Travel time is roughly 45 minutes. Departed at 4:30 a.m. Rode a tricycle back to the hotel, rest for an hour.
First Stop_Bonbon Beach x Sandbar
Packed my stuff for tonight's departure to Batangas port. At 9:30 a.m.- I headed to Bonbon Beach & Sandbar. This time I got to enjoy and swim the beach. Their are few who crossed the Bang-Og island through the sandbar but I did not attempt as the water is above the knee, there are times that the current is strong and considering there's only a few tourists and no security guard. I need to be safe from whatever circumstances plus I don't have a boat to pick me up on the island if in case I got stuck and the water goes up. As per the locals, if you want to see the fully exposed sandbar, you need to come during summer season.
Even if you're not able to cross the other island, you ill still enjoy the 360 view which this beach can offer. It is a long beach, a public domain and open for everyone, no entrance fee, no cottages, no trash bins and no vendors here. Trashes like plastics and bottles of liquors are found in the side of the beach. Since there are no trash bins placed on this area, you would really expect that some peple who visited here will not bring trashes afterwards. BASURA MO, DALA MO !( BRING YOUR OWN TRASH) This slogan/posts can be really effective if their are security guards in placed but since its only a prerogative of the visitor or their conscience to bring it with them or not.
You will enjoy more if you walk further abut 10 minutes walk facing the Bang-Og Island and settle there. Enjoy the sandbar, turquoise water, 360 and panoramic view and clean beach ideal for swimming.
After a well-spent time in Bonbon, I went to town for lunch. You can visit this unnamed restaurant in Barangay Moros, just 3 minutes walk from
Freedom Park near water refilling station facing the port. If you're coming out from the port, take a left turn, walk straight for about 3 minutes. It is a self-service glass restaurant that serves hot meals. I ordered pork sinigang here, they also have bulalo or sinigang na tuna if you're up for some some soup.
Second Stop_DC Munting Paraiso
After my lunch, I went to
DC Munting Paraiso located in Agnay, Romblon. Opened for business last January 2018. Entrance fee are Php 50 for adults and Php 25 for kids. They have 5 to 7 feet swimming pool for adults and a kiddie pool is also available on the side. They offer an overlooking view, rich in greenery surroundings and breath fresh air.
At 3 O'clock in the afternoon, I went home to finish my packing. I went to Shopping center beside the freedom park and bought some souvenirs. Dinner at Joe-Ra and stayed there until I can onboard to the ship.
